A poll published today, Sunday 10/28/2012, on the Star Advertiser, “If the election for mayor of the City and County of Honolulu were held today, who would you vote for?” shows Mr. Caldwell with a lead. Governor Ben Cayetano’s campaign’s response is:
We are disappointed to learn that PRP’s $2 million shameless smear campaign has had an effect on this election, causing us to lose a wide margin that we enjoyed prior to the attack ads.
We are cautiously optimistic, however, that we will prevail. A more recent internal poll from SMS, a reputable research firm, showed Caldwell and Cayetano tied, with each taking a 47% share.
Furthermore, the Star Advertiser poll was taken before the PRP lawsuit, which brought to the attention of the community, the corrosive, malevolent impact the PRP campaign is having on our democratic process.
We believe that will have some impact during election day.
Polls are a measuring tool often used for marketing purposes yet they are not always accurate. Case in point; A Hawaii News Now/Star Advertiser poll on July 30 had Hannemann with a 10-point lead, but Gabbard won the Primary.

The Poll stats on the right hand side of Sunday’s page A 16 REFUTE the Headline and the
‘swing to Rail claim’.
This ‘ Manipulation ‘ is a hot topic across town today and on Talk Radio.
Paul
Our famil, friends and relatives, business colleagues always there for you Governor. You will be the next Mayor of our beautiful City and County of Honolulu. God Bless Us All!
Mahalo Baybee!
I am greatly disappointed that Cayetano only talked about BRT and never offered what the entire public have been wanting for a long long time – Traffic Relief under his Traffic Management System.
Many of those voting for Rail vote for Rail because of Traffic. And Traffic Relief would entice all these Rail voters to vote for Cayetano.
That the Cayetano campaign neglected Traffic Relief which is brought by an idea implemented by modern technology is tragic.
The most important part of F.A.S.T. is Traffic Relief plus BRT – Not BRT alone. BRT and Traffic Relief kills Rail and Traffic.
