The PRP commercial falsely accuses Cayetano of endangering public safety. “Each pardon was granted after a careful review process and often applicants were of an advanced age and sometimes terminally ill. Some were pardoned after they had already served their sentences. Many asked for pardons in order to obtain employment and I granted this to them.”
Ben Cayetano’s lengthy record of service to the environmental preservation and his continuing support of local farmers in contrast to Kirk Caldwell’s weak environmental record were among the reasons for their endorsement of the former Governor.
“This isn’t just about one man’s reputation; it’s about our future and what sort of society we want to have,” said Governor Cayetano. “What young person will ever decide to seek public office if wealthy interests without scruples or honor will spend unlimited sums of money to spread lies about him or her?”
The new full-page ad features “Transit’s tax take to be 19% of city’s collection” report by Star Advertiser’s Kevin Dayton. Taxpayer subsidies of transit operations after rail nearly double – to 19% of the city’s overall tax collections. That means either taxes will have to be raised, or we will have to live with less city services.
