Ben Cayetano’s Bus Plan Saves Money, Works and Is Ready On Day One

Governor Cayetano warned that little at all has been said to educate Star Advertiser readers about BRT and advised that an incredible opportunity now exists for investing in bus transit now that President Obama has signed into law a bill which re-classifies BRT as a “fixed guideway.” if Honolulu were to act now on the new law, 80% federal funding for the project would be available as early as 2013 and the re-classification of BRT as a fixed guideway would permit the use of the 1/2 percent rail surcharge for buses originally limited only for use on rail!
