Ben devoted 28 years of his life to public service as Governor, Lt. Governor, State Senator and Representative. But his work on behalf of Hawaii’s people is not finished. Ben came out of retirement because O`ahu is on the wrong track.

He’s running for office because the current mayor stubbornly supports a rail project we don’t need and can’t afford. Anyone can see that our county infrastructure is crumbling. We have an aging sewer system that breaks down daily and some of the worst roads in America. This is not the time – it is never the time – to waste money on a multi-billion-dollar train project that only benefits special interests.

If we don’t hit the brakes on elevated rail, Oahu taxpayers will bear a much heavier burden for many years to come. Ugly, expensive, heavy rail will mar our beautiful scenery, it will divert money from worthwhile projects – and it won’t even reduce traffic congestion.

As our new mayor, Ben will spend your tax dollars wisely. He will address Honolulu’s true needs. And he won’t waste a single dime on a misguided “train to nowhere.” Ben will put fiscal responsibility back in City Hall, repair the city’s aging sewer and water system, repair our potholes and implement his own transport solution which will save Oahu taxpayers billions of
dollars and time on our roadways. Ben will do what needs to be done.
